Where can I find a nice place for a walk?

The cycle path to Ribe from the farmhouse is 2.3km and takes about 30 minutes to walk and 15 minutes to cycle. The route allows for an easy ride for both baby carriages and bicycles.

Where is the best place for a romantic dinner or lunch?

Porsborgs by the cathedral in Ribe serves really tasty food in a charming setting. Restaurant Kammerslusen has a nice outdoor area and a nice Danish menu.

Terpager & Co by Skibbroen in Ribe serves small courses / snacks and the BEST coffee in town.

Queedens Gård is casual and cozy and hosts live music events and both indoor and outdoor dining. Take a seat and enjoy the beautiful climbing wines and roses.

Where is the best place to eat out with kids?

Our daughter’s favourite restaurant Pinocchio serves great pizzas, pasta and child friendly dishes. And they have really good ice cream desserts!

Nice places to shop in and around Ribe?

Sct. peder is a nice craft shop and café which serves brunch, lunch and home made baked goods.

The shop Fröken in Ribe sells life style and modern clothing for women. Maude Retro & Design has a wide selection of second hand interior decor.

Here are the best beaches

Rømø beach is 35 min away by car and a great choice for an all day activity for the whole family. Fanø beach is 1 hour 15 minutes away by car – stop by Esbjerg along the way or spend the whole day building sand castles on the beach.

In the fall you should…

Put on your wellies and explore the Wadden Sea’s nature treasures, especially the west beach on Rømø. Watch the tide rise and fall and drink hot cocoa and coffee at Café Dax.

Take a stroll around the old cobbled streets of Ribe, see the beautiful well restored houses and visit Ribe Cathedral.

Seal and bird tours on Mandø, Rømø and Fanø lets you see the animals in their natural habitat where they thrive.

The Wadden Sea national park is unique with its rugged and beautiful nature, rich bird life and many experiences to explore all year around.

Here you can experience unique nature

A trip to Mandø lets you experience nature up close. Perfect for bird watching and a seal safari. We recommend ending the day with a Vadehavsplatter in Cafe Mandøpigen for dinner. Take a walk along the beautiful beach on the island of Rømø and search for amber at the shoreline.

The natural phenomenon Black Sun occurs every spring and fall where thousands of starlings dance in the sky. Guided tours can be booked. Go pick oysters directly from the amazing scenic landscape of the Wadden Sea.

Rainy days? Here are our favourite indoor activities

Go to the Wadden Sea Center to explore the exhibitions or visit the many museums of Ribe. Invite the family to Fiskeri- & Søfartsmuseet in Esbjerg; a genuine maritime family attraction for both kids and adults. 

Are you also a lego fan? Go visit Lego House in Billund, only an hour drive from the farmhouse or bring the bathing suits to the water park in Esbjerg.

What are the best activities for kids?

We love to take our daughter Ella Rose to WOW Funpark in Billund or Skjern, it is a nature playground with tree top climbs and much more. Legoland and Lego House are our absolute favourite places to visit.

A trip to the beach followed by a huge ice cream makes us happy and if we want to see animals we go to one of the many zoo’s in the area.

In the summer time you should…

Go to the beach, bring the kids’ shovels and buckets and build sand castles all day.  On windy days it’s fun to bring a kite.
